Arizona Rattlers News Release

MESA, Ariz. - Arizona Rattlers head coach KEVIN GUY announced the re-signings of eight players from the team's 10-6 playoff squad.

Included in the re-signings are quarterback NICK DAVILA, who recently completed the most prolific season for a quarterback in Rattlers history. Davila broke AFL rookie and team records in passing yards, passing touchdowns and completion percentage. After just one season, he already ranks second in Rattlers history in passing yards, passing touchdowns and completions, and ranks first in Rattler career completion percentage.

DL ANTTAJ HAWTHORNE and DB RILEY SWANSON, both of whom started all 16 games in 2010, will return to lead the defense in 2011. Hawthorne set a career high in sacks and was named second team All-Arena Football League for his efforts. Swanson finished second on the team with 86 tackles and also nabbed four interceptions and recorded eight pass break-ups.

Also re-signed were a trio of offensive linemen, all of whom started games in 2010, in JOHN BOOKER, DEVIN CLARK and BRENNAN CARVALHO. Booker and Carvalho also played fullback during the 2010 season, while Clark started every game after signing with the team in midseason. Clark also had an NFL workout during the offseason.

In addition, Arizona also returns QB BILLY FARRIS and DL MARCUS PITTMAN. Farris suited up for all 16 games as the team's top backup quarterback and top holder. In limited action, he passed for six touchdowns out of just 19 passes. Pittman played in six games and assisted in a sack.

Free agency in the AFL kicked off Monday, concluding the period in which teams were allowed to exclusively re-sign their own players. All players are free to sign with the teams of their choice.

The Rattlers return to the field at USAirways Center with an expanded 18 game schedule in March 2011. The Arizona Rattlers are a proud member of the Arena Football League, which returns for its 24th season with 19 franchises, four more than 2010.
