
Argos take on Riders this Saturday

Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts are preparing for their second home game of the 2005 season as they welcome the Saskatchewan Roughriders to Rogers Centre on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. game. Damon Allen, with the highest Passer Efficiency Rating among all CFL quarterbacks, and the 1-1 Argos are looking to catapult off the momentum of last Friday's victory against Calgary as he faces Nealon Greene and his 2-0 Riders.
The July 9 game will honour the Canadian Armed Forces as the anthem will be sung by Petty Officer MacDonald, coin toss duties by Commander Chris Ross and kick off by Commander Stu Moors. The Armed Forces will also be part of a special tunnel for player introductions. Half-time will feature an Argo-style Boot Camp.
The fun will begin will before the doors to Rogers Centre open as the pre-game Steelback Streetfest starts on Bremner St. on the south side of Rogers Centre. The party will feature fun for the whole family including current Argos, as well as Argo alumni and legendary coach Leo Cahill, the Blue Thunder Cheerleaders, a beer garden, interactive displays courtesy of National Sports, a chance to get a Cobra Energy Drink and a musical performance by the band "Canadian Exports".
Following the Streetfest, the pre-game carnival will continue as outdoor entertainment will surround Rogers Centre including amazing bucket drummer Bing Kirkland, the music of the Lamb Chops outside Gate 5, Doo Doo the clown and a band of children's entertainers. The official pre-game party takes place at Jack Astor's, 144 Front St. W.
Another theme of the game is Sports in the Great Outdoors. Fans can fill out a ballot on the main concourse (Level 100) to win some major prizes at the Athletes in Action, Ministry of Natural Resources Urban Fisheries Program, Fish n Canada Show, Olympic Spirit Toronto Discovery Centre, Tennis Canada, Argonaut Rowing Club, Canadian Brewerianist Society/Trillium Chapter and Ray's Collectibles booths.
Following the game, the Argonauts will See You On The Field as fans can come down on the field post-game to meet their favourite Argo players, cheerleaders and Jason the mascot. As well, the official Steelback Post Game Party will be hosted at Forget About It, 325 King Street West, immediately after the game.
The 2004 Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003.
