Toronto Argonauts News Release

TORONTO - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club, in partnership with the Canadian Safe School Network, is proud to celebrate the conclusion of the 17th year of the Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program, presented by Tim Hortons, with the club's annual Huddle Up Leadership Committee Summit on Wednesday, May 9, at MLSE LaunchPad.

"The Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Summit celebrates all the hard work that the various student-led committees have done in the past year," said Jason Colero, Director, Education, Community & Alumni Programs at Toronto Argonauts. "Today marks 17 years of success and we look forward to continuing to help youth and teachers address and overcome bullying in their schools."

The Huddle Up Leadership Committee Summit will unite Argonauts players and cheerleaders with high school and elementary students who attended a Huddle Up presentation during the 2017-18 academic year. Argonauts players who played an integral role in the Huddle Up Program and will be in attendance at this year's summit include Matt Black, Jamal Campbell, Declan Cross, Tyler Holmes, Cleyon Laing, Shawn Lemon, Nakas Onyeka.

"We value the 12 years of our partnership with the Huddle Up program, which continues to make a difference in the lives of so many young people in our community," said Chris Wakefield, Regional Marketing & Sponsorships Lead at Tim Hortons. "It is always great to see the youth that the Argonauts have worked with throughout the school year come together to share in bullying prevention strategies and activities."

The Leadership Committee Summit is an exciting opportunity for students from different schools to share an end-of-year celebration with Argos players, cheerleaders and staff. The day's programming includes an opportunity for committees to share ideas, an information session for teachers hosted by PrevNET, a number of team-building exercises for the committees' students and lunch provided by Pizza Pizza for everyone participating.

This year's summit will feature keynote speaker, Matt Black, who will share his story of growing up in the same building of which the MLSE LaunchPad was built.
