Argos Home Opener On Thursday

Toronto - As Canadians celebrate Canada Day, the Toronto Argonauts are busy preparing for their home opener presented by Pizza Pizza this Thursday, July 3 at 7:00 p.m. against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. After defeating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the season opener on Friday, the Argos are looking to solidify their first place hold in the East. The team is currently on an 8-game regular season winning streak, tied for the third longest in club history.

The fun at Rogers Centre begins at 5:00 p.m. with the Nissan Tailgate Party, featuring music, food, beverages and the 2008 Argos cheerleaders, in the Bremner St. parking lot. Families should visit the Generation A Zone outside of Gate 11 which includes the RONA Football Interactive Inflatable, 6000 square feet of space for fans of all ages to test their football skills.

Fans should be in their seats early to see the once-in-a-lifetime tributes to legendary Argos quarterbacks Joe Krol and Damon Allen. As well, Tobin Haas, a SickKids patient ambassador, will be the honourary tee collector for P/K Mike Vanderjagt. Coin toss duties will be handled by Argos Cheerleader Haylie who just won Miss CHIN Bikini title over the weekend. An in-game tribute will remember Toronto Sun writer George Gross and Argos PA announcer Marc Chambers who are both greatly missed by the Argos family.

With the new stadium configuration, less than 2,500 seats remain for the home opener!!! Fans are encouraged to act now to secure their tickets and avoid disappointment.

Following the game, Boatmen supporters can head down to get some autographs during See You on the Field. After that, the new home of the Argos' official post game party is Jack Astor's, 144 Front Street West. Following each home game, the party will feature live music, drink specials and the opportunity to meet your favourite Argos players and cheerleaders.
