Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of two offensive sparkplugs, WR/RB Phillip Brock and WR Kenny Higgins.

Brock is coming off one of the greatest single offensive efforts in AF2 history and should adapt well to the CFL game. The double offensive threat is coming to Argos camp as both a receiver and running back, and caught 112 passes and amassed more than 2,000 all-purpose yards en route to being named the Peoria Pirates' (AF2) 2008 team MVP. All of this was possible despite playing in the final two games of the season with a rib injury. He was named a Second-Team All-Southland Conference as a senior running back at Nicholls State and has dressed for teams in two different semi-pro leagues. It's not an unlikely transition from running back to receiver since perennial CFL all-star Arland Bruce III played running back through both high school and college before converting to wideout when he joined Winnipeg in 2001.

Higgins torched the Arena Football League over two seasons that he split between the Nashville Kats and Grand Rapids Rampage. In his first season in the AFL, Higgins was named to the All-AFL Rookie Team after leading the Kats in all receiving categories. In his second season, Higgins joined the Rampage and earned All-AFL Second-Team accolades for his more than 1,500 receiving yards and 248 points. The 25-year old speedster also played two seasons at the University of Toledo and had success in the AF2 league where he caught 93 passes for more than 1,400 yards in 16 games with the Memphis Xplorers.
