Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts want to end the 2011 season on a two-game win streak and defeat their rivals from down the QEW, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, this Thursday, November 3 at Rogers Centre. Presented by Nissan, kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. as the team honours its 13th man for Fan Appreciation Night. Featuring prizing and contests throughout the night, 42 lucky fans will receive a game-worn jersey from an Argos player on the roster immediately following the game right on the field. Halftime will include three lucky winners competing in the Nissan QB Challenge for a chance to win four 2012 Argos season tickets.

The season finale will celebrate the accomplishments of CB Byron Parker and RB Cory Boyd, both of whom had great games last Friday in Winnipeg. Parker set a new CFL record with his ninth career interception for a touchdown. Not to be outdone, Boyd also breached the 1,000 yard rushing plateau for a second consecutive season. The team will also honour WR/KR Chad Owens who made pro football history last home game when he became the first player to accumulate over 3000 combined yards in back-to-back seasons. The match will feature a trio of Argos players chasing some personal milestones. Receiver Jeremaine Copeland needs 24 yards to become the 15th player in CFL history to amass 10,000 receiving yards. Kicker Noel Prefontaine is only 1 point away from 1500 points scored in his career. Additionally, Chad Owens is 56 yards away from setting a CFL record for kickoff return yards in a single season.

Scotiabank is offering Argos supporters a special deal for this game. Argo fans can purchase a Bronze ticket and receive a second ticket free when they use their Scotiabank payment card. All of the details can be found at http://www.argonauts.ca/page/scotiacardholders.

The pre-game festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. outside of Gate 11 at Rogers Centre with inflatables, music, the Toronto Sun photowall, a Marc Angelo Foods barbeque to benefit the Argos Level The Playing Field program, presented by Tim Hortons. As part of the third year of the Level The Playing Field program, the George Harvey Collegiate Hawks, who have taken the field for the first time in over 30 years, will be introduced with the Argos during player introductions. The program has seen the return of football to 10 TDSB high schools since inception and features funding, mentorship and team-building.

After the game, all fans who register for the CFL Rewards MasterCard(r) at mbna concourse booths on game day will receive the opportunity to meet linebacker Jason Pottinger. Supporters are invited to head over to the Official Post-Game Party at Jack Astor's, 144 Front Street West, to say hi to some of your favourite Argos players and the 2011 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun. Select domestic beer is available for only $4 (plus taxes) after the game.
