Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto - For the second year in a row, two historic organizations with a demonstrated commitment to community involvement have joined forces to change another student's life forever!

At a special luncheon later today, the Rotary Club of Toronto and the Toronto Argonauts Football Club will officially reward Naresh Sritharan from Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School, of the Toronto Catholic District School Board, a four-year post-secondary academic scholarship.

Argonauts' Executive Chairman & CEO, Chris Rudge commented, "Our commitment to the local community continues to be among our franchise's top priorities. We are very pleased to have again partnered with our friends at the Rotary Club of Toronto to offer another local student this kind of life-changing opportunity. Naresh has demonstrated his commitment to our community, his school and his academics. He can now focus fully on his post-secondary academics without the potential distraction of financial burden."

Naresh, a grade 12 student, earned this one-of-kind scholarship by submitting an application outlining his academic achievements, contributions to his community and Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School, and displaying financial need. Naresh will be attending the University of Toronto and his tuition will be fully paid for all four years that he attends. Naresh will also be invited to the Argonauts' July 11 home game where his successes will be acknowledged in front of thousands of Argos fans during an on-field presentation.

Richard White, the incoming President of the Rotary Club of Toronto said, "Naresh is a leader and role model in his school. Every year Naresh and his band perform to raise money for hospitals. One event lasted 48 hours - a non-stop musical event for the Cancer Centre at the Markham Stouffville Hospital. As the eldest child in the family, Naresh has been brought up to understand and witness the hardships that his parents have gone through. During his high school years, Naresh has obtained a grade average of over 80% every year. We wish Naresh every success as he enters university on our Community Champion Scholarship."

Also in attendance will be members of the Toronto Argonauts staff and Argonauts player alumnus, Chuck Winters.
