Arena Veteran, Boilermaker, and Golden Gopher Join Rough Riders

Peoria Rough Riders News Release


Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Chuck Goodwin is pleased to announce the signings of DB Robert Hall, WR/DB Demetrius Gibson, and RB Jonathan Richmond.

5' 11", 210 lbs. Robert Hall will bring experience to the Rough Riders defensive backfield. Hall went to training camp with the NFL Miami Dolphins in 1999 and had a brief stay with the Orlando Rage of the XFL in 2000. Robert played for the af2 Florida Firecats during the 2001 and 2002 seasons and the Wichita Stealth in 2002 and 2003. Robert attended Walla Walla Jr. College in Walla Walla, WA and is the uncle of NFL Washington Redskins WR Steven Harris.

Demetrius Gibson will be joining the Rough Riders for his first season of professional football. The 6'0", 180 lbs. wide receiver/defensive back was a walk on for the Purdue University Boilermakers during the 1997 season. Most recently Gibson has been a member of the semi-pro Bolingbrook Buccaneers. This past season he was the team's MVP. He led the Buccaneers in yards from scrimmage and tied for the team lead in interceptions.

Johnathan Richmond will also begin his professional career with the Peoria Rough Riders in 2006. Richmond was a four-year letter winner for the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota. Richmond started the final game of his college career against Alabama in the 2004 Gaylord Music City Bowl. Richmond also has had tryouts with the Minnesota Vikings.

- The Peoria Rough Riders will be holding their second open tryouts on January 25, 2005 at the Morton Soccer Forum. Cost is $30 if you pre-register by January 26th, $40 the day of the tryout. To pre-register or for more information call the Rough Rider office at (309) 637-7777

- Sunday, February 5th members of the 2006 Peoria Rough Riders will attend a Superbowl Party at American Pi, 5720 North Knoxville Ave. in Peoria. There is a $5 cover charge and fans must be at least 21. There will be a 50/50 drawing, Silent Auction and a Clipboard Auction with all proceeds benefiting Cystic Fibrosis. 99x/WIXO will also be there doing a live remote. Fans will have the opportunity to take on 99x Morning Show Personality, Matt Bahan, in the Madden Challenge. The Peoria Miller Girls will also be present with great prizes.
