Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Renegades Football Club is pleased to announce that kick returner and running back Marcellous "Archie" Turner has been named Special Teams Player of the Week by the Canadian Football League.
Turner, 29, of Atlanta, scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter on an 86-yard punt return during a 26-25 victory for the Renegades over the Montreal Alouettes on November 3 at Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal.
Turner gained 198 yards on eight punt returns against the Alouettes. Two other Turner punt returns in the fourth quarter (of 37 and 25 yards) helped Ottawa gain field position and led to valuable field goals by Renegades kicker Lawrence Tynes.
The award to Turner marks the second consecutive week that an Ottawa player has been given the Special Teams honour. Linebacker Donnovan Carter won the Special Teams award for setting a CFL record by blocking two punts during an Ottawa loss to Montreal, October 26 at Frank Clair Stadium.
