Everett AquaSox News Release

VANCOUVER, BC: On a "bullpen day" the AquaSox bullpen was stellar for a second straight day. Four relievers combined for six shutout innings to lead the AquaSox to a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canadians before a crowd of 4,631 at Nat Bailey Stadium. In the first two games of the series - both AquaSox wins - the bullpen has turned in 11 shutout innings while collecting 19 strikeouts.

The promotion of right-hander Bryce Miller to AA Arkansas created a void in the AquaSox rotation. Right-hander Fred Villarreal was pressed into service to make his first start of the season. He went three innings allowing three hits and two runs, which were both earned. He didn't issue a walk and struck out two.

Jarod Bayless and Mike Mokma continued with two innings of scoreless relief apiece. Tim Elliott (1-2) worked a perfect eighth and struck out two, while Isaiah Campbell closed things out in the ninth to earn his 10th save in 10 tries.

With the AquaSox Down 2-0 in the third inning, Noelvi Marte doubled to left scoring Justin Lavey and Colin Davis to tie the score at 2-2. Marte finished the night 2-for-4.

The score remained 2-2 until the top of the ninth. With one out, Trent Tingelstad delivered a broken bat single to right. Pinch runner Cole Barr then stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored the go-ahead run on an RBI double to left by Mike Salvatore. Salvatore was 2-for-4.

The Frogs will be back at Funko Field on Tuesday, August 2nd against the Hillsboro Hops for Kids Day with a special 11:05am PDT first pitch.
