Boise Hawks News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Taylor Ard went 4-for-5 with his 12th home run of the season, helping the Everett Aquasox to a 4-3 victory over the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium.

The Aquasox, the Northwest League West Division first half champs ended a five-game losing streak to the Hawks with the victory.

Everett jumped out 3-0 lead tonight, getting a Patrick Kivlehan RBI fielders' choice in the first, a two-out RBI single by Jamodrick McGruder in the fourth, and Ard's opposite field home run in the fifth. Boise would close within 3-1 in the sixth on an Albert Almora RBI double and got the tying runs aboard with one out in the eighth - but David Holman coaxed Jeimer Candelario to ground into an inning ending double play.

Kivlehan provided a much needed insurance run in the ninth with a first pitch homer off the scoreboard in left, as the Hawks got a long, pinch-hit two-run homer with Rock Shoulders to get Boise within a run. However, Holman got Gioskar Amaya to pop up to end the game.

Grady Wood picked up the win, tossing three solid innings of relief, striking out two. Starter Victor Sanchez tossed three no-hit innings, striking out two. McGruder and Michael Faulkner each had two hits for the Aquasox, who equaled a season-high with six stolen bases.

Stephen Bruno went 2-for-4 with a double, extending his hit streak to 20 games - upping his league leading batting average to .356.

Game 4 of the series is tomorrow night at 6:45 p.m., with Felix Pena meeting Steve Ewing.
