Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Richmond, VA- What a difference a day makes. The Hartford Yard Goats pounded out 15-hits and rode the pitching of Jack Wynkoop to a 6-1 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels Friday night, one day after losing by 10 runs.
Wynkoop, making his Double-A debut, allowed only one run and three hits in 6 1/3 innings. The Virginia Beach, VA native walked only two and struck out three with a baffling assortment of breaking pitches to compliment his fast ball.
Ashley Graeter started the Yard Goats on their big night, wrapping an opposite field home run around the right field foul pole in the first inning. It was the first of four hits for the second baseman, who also made several stellar plays in the field.
Ryan McMahon, Drew Weeks, Dillon Thomas and Jan Vasquez each had two hits for the Yard Goats.
Game three of the series is Saturday at 6:05 p.m. RHP Yency Almonte will pitch for the Yard Goats against RHP Sam Coonrod for Richmond. The game will be broadcast on WPOP-AM 1410.
