Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Intimidators won their ninth straight ballgame, taking a 9-3 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Sunday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

Josh Phegley got the scoring going with a solo home run in the second, as the Intimidators never trailed against the Rays affiliate. Phegley finished the day with three hits and three RBIs.

Seven of the nine starters finished with hits, including three for Jared Mitchell and Eduardo Escobar. Kannapolis combined to post 14 hits in the one-sided win.

Most of the damage was done against starter Matt Moore (8-5). The standout lefthander gave up a career-high six earned runs on eight hits, while walking two. The South Atlantic League strikeout leader fanned only three in his brief time on the mound.

The Kannapolis lefthander, Joe Serafin, came out on top, delivering 5 2/3 innings of three-run ball. Serafin (2-1) struck out four Hot Rods hitters without walking anyone.

The win keeps Kannapolis 5 ½ games ahead of second place West Virginia with 15 games remaining in the regular season. The Power defeated the Greenville Drive, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon in Charleston.
