Braves Fall Short Again

Rome, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Rome Braves 5-4 Sunday afternoon in front of 2,337 fans at State Mutual Stadium.

For the second straight game the Braves would fall behind early. Savannah would score two runs when Luis Alen led off with a walk and Jefry Marte followed with a double moving Alen to third. A ground out by Josh Satin and a single by Eric Campbell would score both runners to make the score 2-0.

In the seventh the Sand Gnats would break the game open as Raul Reyes would deliver a two run single with bases loaded and Nick Girraputo would add a run scoring single for the 5-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning the Braves would cut the lead to one. A lead off single by Adam Milligan and a double by Samuel Sime allowed Chaise fuller to drive in two runners with a single to left. After Braeden Schlehuber reached on an error Calvin Culver would crack a two run double making it a close 5-4 game. That's were the rally would end and the Sand Gnats bullpen would close the game out giving Savannah a 5-4 victory.

Kyle Allen (8-6) gets the win for Savannah and Julio Teheran (1-3) takes the loss for the Braves with Rhiner Cruz (22) earning his second consecutive save against Rome.
