Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Miami, August 14, 2008 - Miami FC has acquired midfielder/forward Ansu Toure from the Atlanta Silverbacks in exchange for midfielder Sean Cameron who was playing with the Blues since the beginning of USL-1's last season.

"We want to wish our very best to Sean (Cameron), who has grown by leaps and bounds with our organization and has been a key player for us this year. He's a very talented young player and has an extremely bright future in front of him. On the other hand, we know we're getting an excellent player in Ansu, who will address some of our current needs and certainly make an important impact for us moving forward," said Miami FC General Manager Luiz Muzzi.

Ansu Toure was born on October 18, 1981, in Monrovia, Liberia, is 5'10" tall and weighs 160 pounds. He played 19 games, totaling 1507 minutes, with 3 assists and 6 goals, with 15 points and 44 shots playing for the Atlanta Silverbacks this season. The 15 points registered by Toure currently ranks him seventh in the league.

In 2007, Toure scored two goals and recorded one assist in 24 appearances with the Minnesota Thunder. The player was sent on loan to the New York Red Bulls following the USL season. During his time on trial with New York, Toure registered two goals. Bruce Arena commented on Toure that he had a nice hard shot and was getting better every week. Despite Ansu Toure impressing Red Bulls coach Bruce Arena he was not offered a contract.

In 2006, the Liberian-American player scored four goals in 10 appearances with the Minnesota Thunder. In the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the midfielder scored 27 goals in 14 appearances for the St. Paul Twin Stars.

"I think this trade, just like last week's (Eddie Gutierrez for Connally Edozien) will add much needed offensive firepower to our team," said Miami FC head coach Zinho. "Toure has proven he can score goals and create havoc to opposing defenses. We give up a young talent on Sean, but add a very important piece of the puzzle to our team with Ansu."

Miami's next home match at Tropical Park is on August 24th against the Charleston Battery. Group tickets are currently on sale by visiting our ticket page by calling 305-728-2612.
