Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, CO – The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced this morning that another Eagles player, defenseman Scott Swanson, has been called up to play for the Pittsburg Penguins affiliate team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Swanson is the third player in as many days to be called up to the AHL. Defenseman Jesse Cook and left winger Ryan Tobler will suit up tonight as the Penguins take on the Philadelphia Phantoms in Philadelphia. Swanson will join the team tonight, but it has not been determined if he will play or not.

The Cottage Grove, Minnesota native is one of six Eagles players on two-way contracts with National Hockey League (NHL) teams. Like Swanson, defenseman Brent Thompson, goaltender Ryan Bach, and right wing Greg Pankewicz are all on two-way contracts with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Defenseman Igor Bondarevs and center Riley Nelson are on two-way contracts with the Florida Panthers.

"It is tough for the guys, but we just have to work through it," explained head coach Chris Stewart. "We have to think about the big picture, and that is to develop players for the AHL and NHL."

The 6' 2", 205 pound defenseman leads all Eagles defensemen in points with 36 (7-29). He is fourth in the CHL for defensemen in +/- (25) and seventh in points (36).
