Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, Miss – The two-time defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings, looking to strengthen their playoff positioning, host a pivotal two-game home stand this week against the Fort Worth Brahmas and the Colorado Eagles.

The RiverKings will look for revenge Thursday against the Brahmas after last Saturday's loss in Fort Worth. The RiverKings, having not played in five days, should be well rested for Thursday contest.

The RiverKings are 4-2 against the Brahmas this season, with all six contests having been close games. Fort Worth currently stands in last place in the Northeast Division and hopes to be a spoiler team in the Northern Conference playoff race. Thursday's contest will be the final regular season match up between the two teams.

Thursday night's game is also college night for students in the Mid-South. Each student who brings a valid college ID will be granted a discount on select seats.

On Friday, the RiverKings welcome back the Colorado Eagles to the DeSoto Civic Center. The last time these two teams met was on February 7th, a 3-0 victory for Memphis. Goaltender Jean-Francois Racine recorded the first shutout of his RiverKings career, and Jonathon Gagnon and Alexandre Mathieu each recorded a goal and an assist in the game.

The Eagles and ‘Kings have met three times this season, with Memphis holding a two games to one advantage. The contest this Friday will be the last time these teams will play each other in the regular season.

The ‘Kings, who currently hold a one point advantage over the Indianapolis Ice for the first of two wildcard spots, need to take advantage of every available point at home. The RiverKings have seven of their ten remaining home games at the friendly confines of the DeSoto Civic Center.

The last home stand for the ‘Kings proved to be quite successful as those in attendance witnessed two solid victories over division leading teams. Wins over Bossier-Shreveport and Colorado were seen by a crowd of over 13,000.

Tonight from 6-7 PM at Hunter Brown's Restaurant and Sports Cafe, the RiverKings and SportsPlus 790 WMC present ‘RiverKings Weekly', an hour-long show covering all things RiverKing. WMC radio personality Forrest Goodman and RiverKings play-by-play broadcaster Galen Clavio will co-host, with Head Coach Mark Richards and selected players appearing on-air. In addition to examining the looming playoff picture, RiverKings Weekly welcomes special guest Brad Treliving, president of the Central Hockey League, to tonight's broadcast.
