New York, April 27, 2009 - New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Artem Anisimov has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Anisimov, 20, recorded two goals in six games with Hartford in the 2009 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs. He notched the game-winning goal in Game 1 of the Wolf Pack's opening round series vs. Worcester, and tallied a power play goal in Game 2. During the regular season, he registered 37 goals and 44 assists for 81 points, along with 51 penalty minutes in 80 games with Hartford. He ranked fifth in the AHL in points (81), fourth in goals (37) and eighth in power play goals (16). He also tied for third in the league with eight game-winning goals. His 37 goals and 81 points led all Wolf Pack skaters, while his 29 assists ranked second on Hartford. The 6-4, 194-pounder recorded 21 multi-point performances this season, including five three-point efforts. He also registered a career-high, eight-game point streak from January 9 at Springfield to January 24 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, tallying 11 points (five goals and six assists) during the stretch. Anisimov recorded three points (one goal and two assists) and a plus-three rating as a member of the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars at the AHL All-Star Classic on January 26. In addition, he skated in one game with the Rangers this season, making his NHL debut on February 3 vs. Atlanta.
The Yaroslavl, Russia native was originally the Rangers' second round selection, 54th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
The Blueshirts return to action tomorrow, April 28, when they will face off against the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center (7:00 PM), in Game Seven of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup. Prior to the game, the team's morning skate is scheduled for 11:30 AM at the Verizon Center. The last time the Rangers skated in a Game Seven of a playoff series was in the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals vs. Vancouver (W, 3-2).
