Angels Option Morales and O'Day to Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (May 14, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has optioned infielder Kendry Morales and right-handed pitcher Darren O'Day to triple-A Salt Lake.

In other movement, the Salt Lake Bees have reassigned left-handed pitcher Chris Armstrong to single-A Cedar Rapids and infielder Adam Morrissey to double-A Arkansas.

Morales, 25, has appeared in one game for the Angels this season. He hit .297 with seven doubles, five home runs and 31 RBI in 30 games for the Bees in 2008. Originally signed by the Angels in 2004, the Cuban native hit .294 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 43 games for the Angels in 2007.

O'Day, 25, has appeared in 16 games for the Angels this season, owning a 0-1 record with a 3.43 ERA. The Jacksonville, Fla. native split the 2007 season between single-A Rancho Cucamonga (4.0, 0.75) and double-A Arkansas (3-4, 3.99), finishing with 21 saves on the season. O'Day signed as a free agent with the Angels in 2006.

Armstrong, 20, recorded his triple-A debut with the Bees at Franklin Covey Field on May 7 and appeared in three games for Salt Lake in 2008, owning a 1-0 record with a 3.00 ERA. The Tulsa, Okla. native was selected by the Angels in the 14th round of the 2006 draft.

Morrissey, 26, appeared in three games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .400 with one double, two RBI, and one stolen base. In 25 games for the Travelers this season, he hit .289 with five doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI. Originally signed by the Chicago Cubs in 1999, the Gosford, Australia native signed as a free agent with the Angels prior to the 2007 season.
