
Sunny Weather, Military Appreciation Night On Tap For Beavers Homestand

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers return home to play host to a series of events, including two Art & Science Baseball School days and Military Appreciation Night during their upcoming homestand at PGE Park against the Las Vegas 51s and Tucson Sidewinders.
As the weather heats up, and possibly reaching the mid-90s on Friday, the Beavers begin an eight-game homestand Thursday with Retro Night on a Miller Lite Thursday against Las Vegas at 7:05 p.m.
With the expected early arrival of warm summer weather over the weekend, the Beavers recognize those who have served and currently serve in the U.S. military with Military Appreciation Night on Saturday as they take on the 51s. The first 1,903 fans receive a camouflage beanie cap presented by the U.S. Army. Fans who present their military ID at the PGE Park ticket window on Saturday receive a free ticket to the game.
There is no better way to combine sunny weather, a day of learning and the nation's pastime than with the Beavers' Art & Science of Baseball School Days presented by First Tech Credit Union on May 20 and 21 at PGE Park. Representatives and exhibits from OMSI will be on hand to provide a day of learning at the ballpark for Portland-area kids beginning at 9 a.m. each day; both games begin at 11:05 a.m.
The Beavers wrap up their homestand and four-game series against Tucson with Karaoke Night on a Miller Lite Thursday on May 22.
Portland's fourth homestand of the 2008 season also includes three televised games on FSN, including the opening game of the homestand on Thursday. The two other games aired on FSN are May 19 and 22 as the Beavers face the Sidewinders.
Tickets for the Beavers' homestand against Las Vegas, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Tucson, the Triple-A club of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400. Retro Night / Miller Lite Thursday - Beavers vs. Las Vegas - 7:05 p.m.
Time to dust off the platform shoes, iron those big collared shirts and bellbottom pants to help celebrate Retro Night at PGE Park as the Beavers begin a four-game series with Las Vegas. Fans can enjoy discounted beverages on a Miller Lite Thursday presented by 95.5 The Game.
Friday, May 16
Comcast Family Feast Friday - Beavers vs. Las Vegas- 7:05 p.m.
The Beavers continue their series against the 51s on a Comcast Family Feast Friday presented by Zenner's and KEX 1190 at PGE Park. Throughout the night, a variety of discounted concession items will be available including $1 hot dogs, Dasani water and desserts. Have what it takes to be the next "Got Milk" star? Enjoy milk samples and have your picture taken in the mustache photo booth on the Got Milk Trailer before the game.

Military Appreciation Night - Beavers vs. Las Vegas - 7:05 p.m.
With Memorial Day on the horizon, the Beavers salute those who have served in U.S. military on Military Appreciation Night on a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday at PGE Park. The first 1,903 fans in attendance as the Beavers take on the 51s receive a camouflage beanie cap courtesy of the U.S. Army. Fans who present their military ID at the PGE Park ticket window on Saturday receive a free ticket to the game.
Sunday, May 18
American Family Insurance Kids Sunday - Beavers vs. Las Vegas - 2:05 p.m.
The Beavers finish their four-game set with Las Vegas on an American Family Insurance Kids Sunday. Prior to the first pitch, kids have the opportunity to get player autographs on the Fred Meyer Family Deck, and after the game, kids are invited to run the bases at PGE Park, presented by Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle's Restaurant. Prior to the game, participants of the Special Olympics' softball league will join Beavers players in a morning practice from 9-11 a.m. at PGE Park.

Portland continues its eight-game homestand and opens a four-game series against the Sidewinders.
Tuesday, May 20
Art & Science of Baseball School Day - Beavers vs. Tucson - 11:05 a.m.
Children from Portland-area schools descend on PGE Park for a day of learning and excitement on an OMSI Art & Science of Baseball School Day presented by First Tech Credit Union. Starting at 9 a.m., educational and interactive displays from OMSI will be on site to help teach kids some of the scientific theories and artful philosophies behind the nation's pastime. A special on-field presentation by OMSI kicks off the Beavers' second game of the series against the Sidewinders.
Wednesday, May 21
Art & Science of Baseball School Day - Beavers vs. Tucson - 11:05 a.m.
The Beavers provide a fun and educational day at the ballpark with the team's third OMSI Art & Science of School Day presented by First Tech Credit Union. Gates open at 9 a.m. to allow kids the opportunity to learn about some of the scientific theories and philosophies behind the game of baseball with educational and interactive displays from OMSI. Prior to the first pitch, OMSI will conduct a special on-field presentation.

Karaoke Night/ Miller Lite Thursday - Beavers vs. Tucson - 7:05 p.m.
Warm up those vocal chords and pull out those hits from the 1980s for the Beavers' Karaoke Night at PGE Park as they wrap up a four-game series and the homestand against Tucson. On a Miller Lite Thursday presented by 95.5 The Game, fans who perform a song at the special karaoke tent prior to the game can win a special discount on tickets.
