SEATTLE, WA - OL Reign has placed midfielder Angelina on the season-ending injury list, the club announced today. On Saturday, July 30, the 22-year-old suffered an injury to the right knee during the Copa América Final while representing Brazil, rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus.
"Although this is a very difficult time, I trust that everything will be fine and am grateful for the continuous support I've received from my family, teammates, and all of the fans," said Angelina. "I am so proud of Brazil for winning the Copa América title, and I'm confident that OL Reign will finish the season strong. This experience will help me grow as a professional, and I look forward to working hard to step back onto the field in 2023."
The midfielder made six starts in eight appearances for OL Reign in 2022, tallying one assist and five shots, including four on goal. Angelina will soon begin her injury rehabilitation to prepare for her return in 2023.
