Angel City FC News Release

LOS ANGELES - Today, Angel City Football Club (ACFC) confirmed that the team acquired the playing rights to defender Ali Riley through a trade with the Orlando Pride. In exchange, Orlando will receive ACFC's 2023 third round pick and $15,000 in allocation money.

Riley was a standout high school soccer captain at the prestigious Harvard-Westlake School in North Hollywood. After graduation, she attended Stanford University and was an All-Pac-10 freshman team selection, and named to the All-Pac-10 second team. She also starred for the New Zealand National Team during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, returning to Stanford for her senior season and earning the title of Pac-10 women's soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, All-Pac-10 first team, and Pac-10 All-Academic first team.

Following college, Riley was selected as the tenth pick in the first round 2010 Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) Draft by FC Gold Pride. After spending time playing in Europe, Riley signed with the Orlando Pride prior to the 2020 season, ultimately making her NWSL debut for the Pride during the 2021 Challenge Cup.
