Orlando Pride News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Pride has signed 2022 NWSL Draft selection Julie Doyle to a one-year contract with an option for an additional year, it was announced today. The forward was selected by the Pride at No. 11 overall this past December out of Santa Clara University.
"We are very pleased to add Julie to the squad this year and excited to see how her qualities complement our existing group," Orlando Pride General Manager Ian Fleming said. "We were fortunate enough to have Julie train with us for a short period over the summer and what we saw first-hand, beyond what we already knew of her accomplishments in college and at the youth national team level, gave us the confidence to make her a priority target in the draft this year. We are glad that the opportunity did indeed present itself and look forward to seeing her in purple soon."
Doyle, 23, captained the Broncos en route to their second national title in program history as a senior in 2020, scoring a goal and tallying four assists throughout the campaign. In four years at Santa Clara, she appeared 70 times, 55 of which were starts, netting 16 goals and providing 14 assists. Following the 2020 campaign she earned First Team All-West region honors adding to three All-WCC selections throughout her collegiate career.
At the international level, Doyle has represented the United States at the U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels and was named an alternate for the U.S. at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Australia.
