October 3, 2022 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Anchorage Wolverines News Release
The Anchorage Wolverines lost to the Minnesota Wilderness in overtime for the second time this weekend, by a final score of 4-3. Anchorage picked up two points in the three games played against Minnesota, and they currently sit in sixth place in the Midwest division.
The Wilderness got the first of the contest, with Kevin Marx Noren scoring his sixth goal of the season five minutes in the 1st. Anchorage would then go on to score three unanswered, with Hayden Hennen tying the game before the end of the opening frame, and Kyle Bauer and Mason LeBel scoring a goal each in the 2nd to give the Wolverines a two-goal lead. Anchorage would not be able to hold onto their advantage however, as Marx Noren scored halfway through the 3rd to make it a one-goal contest, with his teammate Beau Janzig tying it back up four minutes later. The game would go to overtime, and ultimately it would be Marx Noren who sealed the game, scoring a hattrick goal to win the game for Minnesota. Shane Soderwall had 32 saves in the contest for Anchorage.
The Wolverines now return to Alaska, and play their first games of the season against the Fairbanks Icedogs on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 AKDT. The games will count towards each team's Alaska Airlines Club 49 Cup standings, the internal competition between all three Alaskan NAHL teams. Both games will be available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
