Anaheim Inks Clark, Blacker to One-Year Deals

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defensemen Mat Clark and Jesse Blacker to one-year contracts through the 2014-15 NHL season.

Clark, 23 (10/17/90), has played two career NHL games with Anaheim, going scoreless in 2011-12. Clark has scored 4-3640 points with 316 penalty minutes (PIM) in 237 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with Norfolk, Syracuse and Manitoba. He set career highs in several offensive categories in 2010-11 with Syracuse, including goals (2), assists (14), points (16), games (80) and PIM (128). The 6-4, 213-pound blueliner has also appeared in 10 career Calder Cup Playoff games, earning 1-12 points with 13 PIM.

Blacker, 23 (4/19/91), has scored 11-4253 points with 129 PIM in 180 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Toronto Marlies. The 6-2, 190-pound defenseman has played 20 career AHL postseason games, earning 1-23 points with 14 PIM. Selected by Toronto in the second round (58th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Blacker was acquired from the Maple Leafs with second-round and seventh-round selections in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Peter Holland and Brad Staubitz.
