Crunch Owner Howard Dolgon Named Thomas Ebright Award Winner

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, today announced that Crunch Owner Howard Dolgon has been selected as the winner of the league's Thomas Ebright Award in recognition of career contributions to the AHL.

As the longest-tenured independent ownership in the league, Dolgon and the Crunch marked their 20th anniversary in 2013-14 and remain at the forefront of innovative marketing ideas and practices. Thanks to his bold creativity and tireless passion, Dolgon is highly regarded throughout the sports world and beyond as he continues to bring positive exposure to the Crunch organization, the Syracuse community and the American Hockey League.

Dolgon was also honored by the AHL in 2010 by being named the recipient of the James C. Hendy Memorial Award as the league's outstanding executive. He was the driving force behind the Mirabito Outdoor Classic, the first outdoor game in AHL history, which was hosted by the Crunch at the New York State Fairgrounds on February 20, 2010 and set an AHL single-game attendance record of 21,508. Dolgon and the Crunch will look to make history again on Nov. 22, 2014 when they host the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic in Syracuse University's iconic Carrier Dome.

The Crunch will host their 21st home opener on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the War Memorial Arena.
