Anaheim Ducks Sign Right Wing Brian McGrattan

Syracuse, NY (July 7, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have signed right wing Brian McGrattan to a one-year contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

McGrattan, 29, appeared in 20 games for the Crunch last season after being acquired by Anaheim from Boston at the trade deadline, tallying 10 points (6g, 4a) and 56 penalty minutes. He also skated in 39 games with Providence in 2010-11, recording five points (4g, 1a) and 97 penalty minutes. The 6-4, 235-pound McGrattan set a Crunch franchise record with 13 shots on goal in a 3-2 win vs. Rochester on March 12.

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, McGrattan has appeared in 182 career NHL games with Ottawa, Phoenix and Calgary, totaling 14 points (3g, 11a) and 395 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 256 career AHL games with the Crunch, Binghamton, San Antonio and Providence, notching 62 points (35g, 27a) and 1,206 penalty minutes. McGrattan was originally selected by Los Angeles in the fourth round, 104th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
