Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has partnered with Dick Ide to launch the "Shooting Stars" promotion.
"Dick Ide is very excited to be a part of the Amerks' shooting star promotion," said Rich Ide of Dick Ide Honda/Pontiac." We are happy to be giving away a two-year car lease to a fan this season. Good luck to all who enter for the promo!"
"We're excited to offer a new and exciting promotion that fosters an increased level of fan interaction," said Amerks Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Chris Palin.
The season-long campaign, which kicks off on Friday, November 7th, will run during the second intermission of each Amerks' home game and incorporates sponsors into a promotional contest in an effort to raise money for charity and provide fundraising opportunities.
Fans who participate in the promotion will have the opportunity to win a series of prizes from Harro East Athletic Club, the Democrat and Chronicle, The Original CharBroil House, World Gym, Time Warner Cable, Conolly Printing and even the "grand prize" from Dick Ide.
Using the traditional "Chuck-a-Puck" format, fans will have 60 seconds to toss their foam stars onto five parachutes located on the ice. Those stars that land on the parachute will be entered into a drawing and one will be selected among the group as the winner. The winner will receive the prize from the respective sponsor in the mail. The winners of each game will be listed on the Rainbow Wall during the third period.
Additionally, fans have the chance to take home a two-year lease on a new car! Similar to the parachute toss, participants will attempt to throw their stars into the cargo hold in the back of the truck. All stars that land in the Honda Ridgeline will be registered for the lease which will be awarded during the Amerks' final home game of the 2008-09 American Hockey League season.
All stars will be marked with a number on the back. Upon purchasing the star, the individual will provide their information on a standard sheet each night attached to the corresponding number of the star. The contact information will be gathered in order to send the prizes to the winners. Fans can purchase one star for $1.00 or six for $5.00 at the shooting stars table in The Blue Cross Arena. The stars come in blue or red and either color is available for any prize.
Rochester's two-game weekend kicks off on Friday, November 7th as the Manitoba Moose roll into town for a North Division matchup at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be the third of a season-long six-game homestand for the Amerks and the third of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
