Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans ended their two-game skid on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-2, at the Allen Event Center, before a crowd of 3,808.
The Americans opened the scoring in the first, when Jarret Lukin fired a shot that bounced off the glass behind the Fort Worth net, off the back of Brahmas netminder Brad Fogal, and in to the Fort Worth goal for a 1-0 lead. It was Lukin's sixth goal of the season. Anthony Maiani made it 2-0 before the period ended, netting his sixth of the year and 20th point.
The Brahmas would cut the lead in half in the second, before Brian McMillin scored his sixth goal of the season to put Allen back on top 3-1 on the power play. Tyler Ludwig and Anthony Maiani drew the assists. The Brahmas answered again before the second period ended, when Shawn Szydlowski took a pass from Austin Mayer from behind the net and put one past Aaron Dell, to close the gap to 3-2.
The Americans sealed the deal in the third, when Adam Pineault scored at the 5:45 mark from Schaafsma and Lukin, to give Allen their two goal lead back, 4-2. It was Pineault's fifth goal and 15th point. Allen would hold on for the victory by that same score. Fort Worth outshot the Americans 27-25 in their first appearance at the Allen Event Center this season.
Noteworthy: Kip Brenan was awarded a penalty shot in the third, after getting hauled down in front of the Fort Worth net. Brennan crashed into the goal post and then had to be helped off the ice. Jamie Schaafsma was selected as a replacement shooter for Brennan, and was stopped by Brad Fogal. It was the first penalty shot awarded to the Americans this season. Anthony Maiani extended his team leading point streak to five games with a goal and an assist.
Up Next The Americans host Denver on Friday December 7th at 7:05 pm.
