Arizona Sundogs News Release
Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs fell to the Tulsa Oilers Sunday night at the BOK Center, 4-3 in their first of seven match-ups this season.
Arizona began the game strong when Mario Larocque scored his fifth goal of the season just 1:17 into the first period. The first 20 minutes would prove to be a back and forth of momentum as Tulsa tied the game with a goal from Ryan Cramer as he was able to beat Arizona's goalie Adam Russo with a turnover from Jeff Kyrzakos. Two minutes later, Sundogs' Ron Meyers regains the lead momentarily with assists from Kevin Petovello and Kyrzakos. The Oilers came in again to tie the game with an easy chip off the stick of Cramer as Russo couldn't reposition quick enough in front of the net. Tulsa's netminder Mike Garman shut down Arizona's Meyers for a second time as he barreled down on the net looking for a backhander goal but was denied.
Just a minute in a half into the second period, Tulsa looked to setup a chance on the power play when Mike Ullrich's stick broke giving Arizona the advantage to clear the puck out of their zone. Larocque later took a penalty for hooking when Troy Ofukany broke out in a three on one straight away. Hauswirth registered Arizona's third goal of the evening when he shot one off just above Garman's shoulder. Less than two minutes later Tulsa again tied the game with a shot from Ryan Menei .
Michel Beausoleil scores the game winning goal on the power play halfway through the final period giving the Oilers their first lead of the night which held them to the finish. With 66 seconds left Arizona called a timeout and elected to pull Russo, giving them a 6-4 power play advantage but were unable, to gain back their lead. The Sundogs led shots on goal with 37-26 and was 0-3 on the power play. This concludes Arizona's road trip as they return to Tim's Toyota Center to host the Denver Cutthroats on Tuesday, December 5 when the puck drops at 6:05pm.
