Americans Lose Close Match to Thunderbirds

Owen Williams opened tonight's scoring with a goal at 4:09 first period. The Thunderbirds had an early two goal lead after Nolan Volcan capitalized on a slashing penalty from Riley Bruce at 7:27.

Riley Sawchuk scored the Americans first goal at 13:28, assisted by Riley Bruce and Conner Bouchard. The Thunderbirds out shot the Americans 13-7 in the first period.

The Americans offense heated up in the second period. After a goal by Seattle's Andre Kukuca just 24 seconds into the period, Tri-City responded with three straight goals.

Parker AuCoin tallied his fourth of the year, assisted by Sasha Mutala and Mitchell Brown at 1:06. A power play goal from Nolan Yaremko, assisted by Isaac Johnson and Kyle Olson, tied the game at 12:40. The Americans captain scored again at 15:30 to give his team the lead, assisted by Dom Schmiemann and Brown.

Reese Harsch scored his first goal of the season for Seattle at 18:36 making the score 4-4. The Americans led shooting 15-11 in the second period.

Seattle gained the final lead with Volcan's second goal of the night at 1:39.

The Thunderbirds out shot the Americans through the night 35-29.
