Allen Americans News Release

Rapid City, SD - The Americans have outscored the Rush 14 to 7 in the first two games of the series. The two clubs wrap up the three-game set tonight at 8:05 PM CST from the Black Hills of South Dakota.

The Americans power play (21.3%) is up to seventh overall in the league with four power play goals Friday night. Allen had five special teams goals on last night with Greger Hanson's fourth goal of the evening coming shorthanded.

"That's how you win in this league," said Americans forward Greger Hanson. "We're in the top-half of the league in both power play and penalty kill. We've worked very hard over the last month to tighten up our game."

Greger Hanson and Spencer Asuchak are tied for the league lead with 11 power play goals each. Hanson had his second five-point night of the season on Friday, with four goals and an assist in the Americans 9-3 rout of Rapid City.

The victory kept Allen in a tie with the Colorado Eagles in the Mountain Division. Both teams have 31 wins and 66 points. The Eagles have played two fewer games than Allen. The two points last night also moved Allen into a tie with Toledo and Colorado for the most points in the Western Conference.

"It's a battle every night," said Americans defenseman David Makowski. "If you take one night off you take a step back. We know it's going to be a challenge going down the stretch. There are several teams in the West playing some good hockey right now."

Chad Costello had three points in last night's win. It was his seventh straight multi-point game. Costello has an eight-game point streak to lead Allen, with 21 points over those eight games. David Makowski also has an eight-game streak with 18 points in that stretch. Makowski had his career-high five-game goal streak snapped last night.

Riley Gill continues to be red hot for Allen winning his seventh straight start. Gill leads the league with a 2.07 goals-against average and .939 save percentage.

The Americans lead the ECHL with 199 goals scored. That's 13 more than second place Toledo with 186. Puck drop tonight from the Rushmore Civic Center is 8:05 PM CST.
