WHL Tri-City Americans

Americans Host Oil Kings for 2022-23 Home Opener

October 8, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release

The Americans will open the home portion of their 2022-23 season tonight at the Toyota Center as they take on the reigning WHL Champion Edmonton Oil Kings.

The 2022-23 Home Opener is presented by Washington River Protection Solutions and is brought to you by 97 Rock, Bud Light, Coca Cola and Gesa Credit Union.

It will be Tri-City's first Home Opener against a non-U.S. Division opponent since 2009 when the Americans opened their season against the Kelowna Rockets. After no interconference games over the past two seasons, Edmonton and the rest of the Central Division will travel to Tri-City this season for the first time since 2018-19.

The Americans will look to get back in the win column tonight after falling to tough U.S. Division opponents, Portland and Everett, last weekend. Edmonton started their U.S. Division road trip last night in Spokane, earning their first victory of the season.

In addition to an exciting night of hockey, fans can look forward to a variety of special Home Opener activities.
