Allen Americans News Release
Allen, TX - The Allen Americans host the Indy Fuel tonight at 7:05 PM at Allen Event Center, as the Americans open a four-game home stand that includes four games in five nights.
The Americans are coming off a three-game sweep of the Rapid City Rush last week. Allen outscored Rapid City 20-12 in the three games. Chad Costello and Greger Hanson are both coming off an eight-point week that saw them each score four goals. Hanson and Costello are tied for fourth in the league with 28 goals apiece.
"We picked up three wins last week, but we could have played better," said Americans forward Greger Hanson. "Defensively we were sloppy at times and that's a bit frustrating, but the positive side of things we got the points we needed to stay in the division and conference race."
The Americans are currently tied with Colorado for the division lead with 32 wins and 68 points. Toledo is a point ahead of Allen and Colorado with 69 points to lead the Western Conference. The Americans will have just 19 games remaining after tonight . 11 of those games will be on home-ice, where the team is 15-7-1-1.
Riley Gill has started the last two games for Allen and is currently on an 8-game winning streak between the pipes. Gill leads the ECHL in both save percentage (.936) and goals-against average (2.07).
The Americans are expected to have Center Zach Hall back in the lineup tonight, which makes the Allen lineup pretty deep up the middle with Asuchak, Hall and Brittain. Hall has been out of the lineup for the last several weeks with a broken finger.
Tonight's opponent, the Indy Fuel (14-31-2-2) are last in the Central Division, but only two points behind the Wichita Thunder (15-26-3-1). The Fuel played the Americans tough in their previous three meetings, which included a 7-6 wild affair back in October.
Indy has made several moves since the last time the two clubs met, including dealing away former Americans Alex Guptill and Tristan King. Puck drop tonight is at 7:05 PM CST . The Americans and Fuel will take tomorrow night off and resume the two-game set on Friday night at Allen Event Center.
Don't Miss - Medieval Times Night is this Friday night against the Indy Fuel. See two knights square off at center-ice in a sword duel. Then on Saturday, it's the 8th Annual Police versus Fire Charity Hockey Game at 5:05 PM before the Americans face Rapid City at 7:05 PM . On Sunday, it's the 3rd Annual Pucks and Paws Game at 4:05 PM .
