
Americans Forward Chad Costello Wins Inaugural PHPA ECHL MVP Award

(Niagara Falls, ON) The Professional Hockey Players' Association (PHPA) is pleased to announce that ECHL players have voted Chad Costello of the Allen Americans as the inaugural recipient of the 2014-15 PHPA - ECHL Most Valuable Player Award Presented by BioSteel Sports.
The PHPA-ECHL Most Valuable Player Award Presented by BioSteel Sports is awarded to the player voted by his peers as the top performer in the League.
Costello, who led the ECHL in scoring with a whopping 125 points in 72 games played, finished with a plus-minus of +43. His 84 assists, 35 power-play assists, and 44 power play points were tops in the League, while he finished second in goals with 41. He was recognized by the League as the 2014-15 recipient of the ECHL Sportsmanship Award presented annually to the player who demonstrates the best sportsmanship on the ice while playing the game at a high level, and twice received the ECHL Player of the Month Award this season. Costello helped the Americans to a first place finish in the Western Conference standings, and second overall in League standings.
"To be recognized by the players you play against for this type of award truly means a lot," said Costello. "I try to be an honest, hard working player each and every night. The success our team has had this year certainly contributes to this award as well."

The 2014-15 season marked the first time players from the ECHL voted on a series of season ending individual awards.
