ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (10-5), four-time ECHL Pacific Division Champions and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, took a 2-1 series lead in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals with a 4-1 victory over the Allen Americans (9-5) in front of a crowd of 3,522 on Thursday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
After both teams played through a scoreless first frame, Ontario earned its first goal of the night during a second period power play when Judd Blackwater received a pass from Garry Nunn in the slot and whipped the puck past Riley Gill at 5:25.
Allen evened the score off a goal from Justin Baker at 9:28, as the defenseman lifted the puck past a screened Joe Cannata, ending the goaltender's shutout streak at 96:24 dating back to Game 1 of the series.
Matt White gave Ontario the lead again at 14:17 after taking a pass from Kyle Bigos and snapping a shot at the Allen net. Gill made the initial stop, but White chased his own rebound and jammed the puck past the goaltender.
Maxim Kitsyn padded the Reign lead in the third period when he snapped a pass from White past Gill at 17:16, and then Nunn sealed the match with an empty-net goal at 19:08.
Cannata earned the win with 21 saves; Gill took the loss with 13 stops.
