Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, earned a point in an overtime loss to the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday night by a score of 4-3. Star Wars Night drew a huge crowd of 5,373 at Allen Event Center.
The Americans opened the scoring on Saturday night with the rare penalty shot. Alex Breton fired one past Colton Point for his 8th goal of the season to give the Americans a 1-0 lead. Idaho evened the score on a goal from Brad McClure who found a hole and slipped one past CJ Motte for his 19th of the season. Alex Ranger put Allen back on top with his 6th of the season knocking one home from in front of the Idaho net on a rebound. Allen led 2-1 after the first period.
Idaho outscored the Americans 2-1 in the second period to even the game after 40 minutes of play. Idaho's power play goal with 3.2 seconds left in the period made it a 3-3 game.
Neither team found the back of the net in the third period so for the third time in the season series the game would go to overtime. It didn't take the Steelheads long as Brady Norrish scored just 40 seconds into the overtime period to give the Steelheads a 4-3 victory and the season series win.
The Americans hit the road for two games next week stopping in Wichita on Tuesday, and Kansas City on Friday. Allen returns home on February 15th for the first ever meeting with Worcester.

Question: You had an amazing goal tonight to put the Americans back on top in the first period. Can you walk us through the goal?

Ranger: "I just try to work hard and do the best I can. I'll do whatever it takes to help this team win."
Question: Most of your remaining games are at home. What advantage do you feel that gives you in the final stretch of the season?
Ranger: "We have great fans here in Allen. They were really loud tonight and it fired up the team. We have to take advantage of our schedule and pick up points every night."
