Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans dropped game one of their best of seven series with the Denver Cutthroats by a 2-1 score on Thursday night at Allen Event Center.
The Americans would get the early advantage, scoring midway through the first period, when Allen defenseman Bryce Aneloski won a battle in front of the net and fired one past Kieran Milan to give Allen a 1-0 lead. It was Aneloski's first as a member of the Americans, and first of the post-season. Denver would tie the score in the final 10 seconds of the period, when former Americans defenseman, Ben Wilson would blast one from the left wing boards that beat Aaron Dell to make it a 1-1 game after 20 minutes of play.
Denver grabbed the lead in the second, when forward Mikael Bedard put in a rebound from in front of the Allen net to make it a 2-1 game. Allen had a 23-11 shot advantage after 40 minutes of play.
The Americans would get their chance to tie the game late in the final period of play, when Adam Smyth headed to the box for Denver after a too many men on the ice call at the 17 minute mark, however Kieran Milan stood strong knocking away shot after shot as the Denver Cutthroats would steal game one and home-ice from Allen with a 2-1 win at Allen Event Center.
Game two is Friday night at 7:05 pm in Allen. Call 972-912-1000 for tickets or visit www.allenamericans.com
