Kansas City 2, Sioux City 1
Kansas City pitcher Kris Johnson pitched a complete game, and the T-Bones scored a run in the seventh and eighth inning to edge Sioux City 2-1. Johnson allowed just one run on five hits while striking out five batters to earn the win. The Explorers took an early lead in the game when DH Kent Sakamoto singled in 3B Wally Backman in the top of the first. Sioux City's 1-0 lead stood until the bottom of the seventh when Kansas City tied the game on 1B Kala Kaaihue's RBI double. T-Bones SS Jimmy Mojica hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, which proved to be the winning run. T-Bones C Johnny Bowden went 1-for-3 in the game with a run scored. Despite earning the loss, Explorers pitcher Richard Salazar allowed just two runs on three hits in eight innings pitched.
Lincoln 2, Fort Worth 1 (10 Innings)
The visiting Lincoln Saltdogs defeated the Fort Worth Cats 2-1 in extra innings. Both starting pitchers posted an impressive outing, yet both earned a no decision. Lincoln starting pitcher Vince Bongiovanni tossed eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five. Fort Worth starting pitcher Wade Mackey allowed just one run on five hits in eight innings pitched. In the top of the tenth, Saltdogs 3B Brandon Jones hit a solo home run to give Lincoln a 2-1 lead. PJ Zocchi worked a scoreless bottom of the tenth to earn the save for Lincoln, and reliever Santo Luis earned the win for his scoreless ninth inning pitched. Saltdogs DH Rafael Alvarez had two hits, and LF Curt Smith went 1-for-3 with a double in the win.
Winnipeg 9, Gary SouthShore 4
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored four runs in the second inning and added four more in the fifth frame en route to a 9-4 victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Goldeyes LF Justin Bass hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second to open up a 5-0 lead for Winnipeg. Bass led Winnipeg with four RBIs. Winnipeg DH Jon Weber went 2-for-4, including a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and 1B Brian Myrow had a solo home run and two runs scored in the game. Goldeyes starting pitcher Chris Salamida earned the win for his 6.1 innings pitched. Salamida allowed three earned runs on four hits. RailCats 2B Brad Boyer hit a three-run home run in a losing effort.
Grand Prairie 5, Amarillo 4
Grand Prairie starting pitcher Josh Rainwater added to his league-leading win tally as his six strong innings pitched helped the AirHogs defeat the Amarillo Sox 5-4. Rainwater conceded two runs on seven hits while striking out five hitters to earn his twelfth win of the season, which leads the American Association. Grand Prairie DH Joey Gomes went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and C Chris McMurray went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Second baseman David Espinosa and 3B Guillermo Martinez each collected an RBI for the AirHogs. Jon Hunton allowed an earned run in the ninth inning but still earned the save for Grand Prairie. Amarillo CF Fehlandt Lentini had two RBIs in the loss.
Fargo-Moorhead 10, Wichita 8
Trailing 8-6, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Wichita Wingnuts by a score of 10-8. The RedHawks built a three-run lead through two innings played until Wichita plated five runs in the top of the third. In that inning, Wichita 3B Juan Richardson hit a three-run home run. The RedHawks used a four-run seventh to reclaim the lead. In the inning, DH Jesse Hoorelbeke doubled in a run, C Todd Jennings singled in two runs and LF Jonathan Wyatt singled in a run. Jennings led Fargo-Moorhead with three RBIs, and Hoorelbeke and 1B Kyle Nichols each had two RBIs. Reliever Kevin Fuqua pitched four shutout innings to earn the win for the RedHawks, and Donnie Smith earned the save for pitching a scoreless ninth.
Sioux Falls 6, St. Paul 5 (11 Innings)
Sioux Falls C Henry Contreras hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eleventh to give the Pheasants a 6-5 win against the St. Paul Saints. Pheasants 1B Brandon Sing had two RBIs in the game, and RF Gus Milner had three hits and a run scored. Third baseman Trevor Lawhorn went 3-for-4 with a run scored for Sioux Falls. Pheasants reliever Barry Fowler earned the win for his scoreless two innings pitched in relief. In the bottom of the eleventh, Pheasants CF Francisco Leandro doubled and then came around to score the winning run on Contreras' single.
El Paso 7, Shreveport-Bossier 0 (7 Innings)
El Paso starting pitcher Scott Hodsdon scattered six hits and pitched seven shutout innings to help lead the Diablos to a 7-0 win over the Shreveport-Bossier Captains in a rain-shortened seven inning game. Hodsdon fanned three batters in the game and picked up his third victory of the season with the win tonight. Hodsdon received good run support early on as Diablos 1B Javier Brito belted a three-run homer in the top of the first. Brito went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Diablos C Alberto Espinosa went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and SS Maikol Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Captains RF Bryan Sabatella went 2-for-3 with a double in a losing effort.
