El Paso 7, Kansas City 4 (10 innings)

Someone once said, "It's not how you start. It's how you finish." For the El Paso Diablos on Friday, both came into play. A four-run first gave El Paso pitchers a lead to work with. And after Kansas City clawed back into the game, eventually tying the score in the ninth inning, a three-run 10th gave the Diablos the extra-innings win. Diablos 2B Albenis Machado, who scored the second run of the first inning, singled in two in the 10th on his third hit of the game, setting the stage for the El Paso win. T-Bones C Johnny Bowden began Kansas City's comeback with a two-run homer in the second inning. Bowden later scored the tying run with two outs in the ninth on a SS Jimmy Mojica single. But the T-Bones' elation didn't last long thanks to Machado and El Paso's extra-innings performance.

Sioux City 5, Sioux Falls 1

After seven and a half innings of quiet, 1-1 baseball, the Sioux City Explorers broke out of their shell, plating four runs on four hits to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Sioux City starting pitcher Nick Schumacher finished off the Pheasants in the next inning, registering one of his seven strikeouts in the complete-game effort. Schumacher allowed seven hits and a walk in the game, edging just above .500 on the season at 5-4. Explorers 2B Brian Bistagne led all players with three hits in four at-bats while scoring and batting in a run. The Pheasants took a 1-0 lead in the fourth thanks to a solo shot from 1B/RF Brandon Sing. But Sioux City tied the score in the bottom of the frame, setting the scene for the breakout eighth.

Wichita 9, Lincoln 1

Wingnuts 1B Jorge Delgado gave his club a 2-1 lead in the third on a two-run single and later stretched that advantage to eight with a bases-clearing, sixth-inning double. Delgado finished the game with five RBI on two hits in three at-bats. After allowing a run on two hits in the third inning, Wichita starting pitcher Junior Guerra buckled down, giving up just two more hits in the next five frames en route to an eight-inning win. Guerra struck out seven SaltDogs batters in the decision. CF Blake Gailen scored the lone Lincoln run in the third when 1B Phil Hawke singled him in from second. It was Hawke's only hit of the night.

Grand Prairie 14, Amarillo 2

Seven AirHogs batters picked up multiple hits against Amarillo pitching Friday night. But no one outshone 3B Greg Porter, who fell a triple shy of the cycle, batting in four runs and scoring two of his own on a 4-for-6 night. His home run - one of two for Grand Prairie - got the scoring started in the first inning, putting his club on top, 2-0. With the Grand Prairie batters building up an all-but insurmountable lead, AirHogs starting pitcher Josh Rainwater nearly went the distance, throwing eight and two-thirds innings. But after a Jason White double scored two for the Sox against Rainwater in the ninth, Grand Prairie's Jason Moody entered to record the final out.

Winnipeg 6, Fargo-Moorhead 5

After jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the second, Winnipeg held on for a one-run win against Fargo-Moorhead on Friday. Four Goldeyes pitchers saw action, with the second man out - Ian Thomas - picking up the win, as starting Winnipeg pitcher Isaac Hess went just four and a third innings. Winnipeg SS Wes Long had a game-high three hits and two RBI to go along with a run scored. Long's second RBI, a second-inning single that plated 2B Price Kendall, gave Winnipeg its sixth run, which proved to be all the offense the team would need. The RedHawks' comeback effort was bolstered by two homers, one from DH Kyle Nichols and another off the bat of C Phil Britton. But it wasn't enough, as Winnipg took the 6-5 win.

Fort Worth 8, Shreveport-Bossier 4

A three-run, fourth-inning double from 3B Butch Ballez highlighted an eight-run spurt in the third, fourth and fifth innings for the Cats, who used the outburst to take an 8-4 win over the Captains of Shreveport-Bossier. Ballez finished the game with four RBI to add to an already-impressive 3-for-5 outing. Cats starting pitcher Phillip Bartleski earned the win, allowing one run on just one hit and five walks in five innings of work. Bartleski also struck out four Captains batters. Reliever Griffin Bailey entered in the sixth and picked up a four-inning save, giving up three runs on five hits.

Gary SouthShore 13, St. Paul 3

The RailCats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first thanks to home runs from 2B Brad Boyer and RF Toddric Johnson. Boyer, whose first-inning blast plated two runs, finished the contest with a game-best five RBI and two runs on four hits. St. Paul answered with a run in the bottom of the inning before each starting pitcher settled in, with no more runs being scored until the sixth inning, when the Gary SouthShore lineup put up 10 runs in three short innings. Boyer produced three of those runs. Gary SouthShore starting pitcher Alain Quijano threw six innings and allowed two runs on four hits to pick up his second win of the year.
