St. Paul 11, Sioux City 1
St. Paul rode a trio of special performances from the top of its lineup to a dominant 11-1 victory against the Explorers. 2B Adam Frost, RF Dan Kaczrowski, and 1B Brian Burgamy played significant roles in the Saints' high-powered offense and contributed a large portion of the team's scoring. Frost went 3-for-6 and scored twice, one of which came in the form of a solo home run in the first at-bat of the game. Burgamy's 4-for-5 outing included a two-run homer in the eighth to cap off a three-run, three-RBI game for him. Kaczrowski added three scores of his own to a scoring flow that Sioux City simply could not contain.
LHP Cole Nelson was composed on the mound, allowing just one run and six hits in six innings. 1B Luke Murton scored the X's only run, hitting a solo homer in the fourth. The Saints reached into their bullpen and received a strong combination of efforts close out the game and earn the win for Nelson. RHP T.J. Hose, RHP Dustin Klabunde, and LHP Matt Meyer each pitched an inning and were successful in keeping Sioux City off the bases entirely.
Laredo 5, Amarillo 2 (10 innings)
An RBI double from RF Cory Patton in the bottom of the ninth earned Amarillo a trip to extra innings, but Laredo's three runs in the tenth were enough to secure a 5-2 win for the Lemurs. PR Kyle Wilson added the eventual game-winner in the top of the tenth off of a single from CF Stephen Douglas. LF Mike Provencher's two-run double two batters later cushioned Laredo's lead before they finished off the Sox.
Provencher's 3-for-5 performance included a crucial run in the seventh that temporarily claimed the lead for the Lemurs. RHP Sean Tracey did the bulk of the work on the mound for Laredo, tallying five strikeouts and allowing just one run in 6.2 innings.
El Paso 9, Grand Prairie 6
El Paso built a generous lead with five runs in the seventh, but the Diablos had to survive a dangerous late rally from the AirHogs before securing a 9-6 victory in Grand Prairie. Both teams kept things close for much of the game and had a pair of runs by the sixth, including an RBI triple from both sides. El Paso broke away in the seventh with a five-run inning, capped off by a solo home run by RF Welington Dotel. That marks the 12th time Dotel has crossed home plate in the last 13 games for the Diablos.
Another RBI triple for the Diablos, this time from CF Gabe Suarez, increased their lead to five runs in the eighth. The AirHogs put together three runs across the final two innings and then loaded the bases. With two outs, Grand Prairie had the potential to win the game with a home run. But El Paso narrowly escaped with the final putout and the win. Suarez ended the game with the most impressive outing, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs.
