Lincoln 9, Newark 5
Lincoln Saltdog 1B Jimmy Rohan paved the way for the Saltdogs to beat the Newark Bears 9-5 with a strong 3-for-5 day at the plate. His three hits were a team-high and he also added two RBI on a homerun in the fourth inning that gave Lincoln the 7-2 lead. Saltdog 2B David Espinosa also had a pair of RBI with a two-run shot in the top of the first inning. Espinosa also doubled later in the game. For the Bears, C Dan Coury homered in the second inning to tie the game at two but the Saltdogs soon took the game over. Coury finished the night 2-for-4. Bears DH Ryde Rodriguez had a team-high three hits in five at bats and also scored a run. P Tony Bulter was tabbed as the win after the lead the Saltdogs built in his 5.0 of work held up.
Kansas City 4, Fargo-Moorhead 1
The Kansas City T-Bones shut down the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 4-1 with the help of a good showing from the T-Bones pitching staff. The RedHawks recorded just seven hits in the game and three of those came from 1B Marcos Rodriguez. Starter Lucas Irvine earned the win for his six inning effort in which he allowed just three hits and struck out six batters. Closer Griffin Bailey shut the door in the ninth to earn the save. Offensively for the T-Bones it was the CF Justin Bass show as he homered and tripled in the ball game in a 2-for-4 night with two RBI. T-Bones 1B Trevor Coleman also had a pair of hits and added an RBI.
Winnipeg 8, St. Paul 2
After six innings of scoreless baseball the Winnipeg Goldeyes exploded for five runs to push out in front of the St. Paul Saints on the way to winning the game 8-2. DH Barbaro Canizares blew the game wide open with a two-run homerun in the top of the seventh inning. After two St. Paul pitching changes 3B Amos Ramon singled home another run and then C Luis Alen scored on a wild pitch. Ramon scored on an error to put the Goldeyes up 5-0. Ramon had a game-high three RBI on a 2-for-4 night. For the Saints, 3B Ronnie Bourquin was 2-for-4 accounting for all of the St. Paul offense with two solo homeruns. For throwing five pitches and getting a strikeout Jack Van Leur got the win.
Wichita 8, Gary SouthShore 4
The Wichita Wingnuts used a four-run eighth inning to best the Gary SouthShore RailCats 8-4. A pair of singles from RF David Peralta and LF Jared McDonald scored runs in the bottom of the eighth and the Wingnuts also scored on a sacrifice fly and on a bounce out to break a 4-4 tie. Four different Wingnuts had two-hit games including Peralta and DH Greg Porter. Porter also added an RBI and scored two runs. RailCat 2b, batting in the nine hole was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk and all four of Gary SouthShore's RBI. For working the eighth inning, P James Hoyt earned the win. Hoyt struck out two batters in the inning.
