Amarillo 9, Gary SouthShore 1

The Amarillo Sox rolled over the Gary SouthShore Railcats 9-1 with the help of a cycle and five RBI from 1B Tim Alberts. Alberts was hot from the get-go with a two-run home run in the first inning. He tripled home a run in the third and then singled home two more in the fourth. He finished off the cycle with a two-out double to centerfield in the sixth inning. On the day Alberts was 4-for-5 with two runs and five RBI. The Railcats collectively managed just one run on P Ryan Mitchell who had a solid eight inning start in which he scattered eight hits. Mitchell picked up the win while striking out eight batters. For the Sox RF Matthew Tucker, LF Adam Buschini and C Mitch Abeita each had a pair of hits.

Winnipeg 10, Sioux City 9

The Winnipeg Goldeyes held off the Sioux City Explorers 10-9 in a three-hour shootout in Sioux City. After losing an early three-run lead the Explorers took the lead back in the sixth inning, but Winnipeg turned on the jets in last two innings. DH/LF Jon Weber brought home a run and loaded up the bases with two outs in the top of the eighth and in the next at bat 3B Yurendell de Caster doubled home a pair of runs to give the Goldeyes the lead. De Caster was 3-for-5 on the day. Winnipeg added on a crucial insurance run in the top of the ninth on a RF Ridge Carpenter RBI. Carpenter also had three hits in the contest. The Explorers rallied in the bottom of the ninth and scored a pair of runs on a DH Adrian Martinez single but couldn't complete the comeback.
