Sioux Falls 4, GarySouthShore 1

Three home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning rapidly turned the tide in the Pheasants' direction, as they defeated Gary SouthShore, 4-1. Sioux Falls got back-to-back solo home runs from RF Cristian Guerrero and LF Mark Shorey to take the lead. Then, C Jake Taylor delivered a two-run home run to expand the advantage. Guerrero, whose home run tied the game, led the club offensively with a 3-for-4 day.

The RailCats led 1-0 until the sixth on the back of an RBI single in the first. Sioux Falls squandered opportunities with runners in scoring position in the second and fourth before finally breaking through with the long ball. From then on, the Pheasants' pitching staff cruised. After Sioux Falls took the lead, the RailCats managed one hit and two baserunners.

RHP Mark Michael was rewarded with the win for his seven inning performance, in which he surrendered one run on five hits. RHP Cody Evans worked a perfect ninth en route to his third save of the season.

New Jersey 9, St. Paul 2

Three home runs by New Jersey in the fourth and fifth innings bloated the score against interleague opponent St. Paul, as the Jackals went on to win, 9-2. Already up 2-1 heading into the fourth, New Jersey got a two-run home run by Nick Giarraputo, an RBI double by Steve Caseres and a three-run home run by Angel Berroa. Francisco Caraballo added a solo home run of his own the next inning to help put the game away. St. Paul was victimized by walks, as a base on balls preceded each run-scoring hit during the fourth.

On the mound, the Jackals were led by lefty Jon Kibler who picked up his third win of the season. The Saints managed just one run on four hits off Kibler through six innings. Amid St. Paul's struggles, however, RF Jose Hernandez extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Hernandez was joined offensively by 1B Ole Sheldon, as both went 2-for-4.
