
Ambassadors Lose Heartbreaker to Jackals, 2-1

The Allentown Ambassadors had the tying run on third and the go ahead run at first with two out in the ninth but lost to New Jersey 2-1 Wednesday night in New Jersey.
The Jackals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Darren Blakely walked to begin the inning, then Joe Kerrigan singled followed by a Travis Bailey RBI single.
The Ambassadors tied the game in the top of the fourth. Vic Davilla doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Both starters, Miguel Perez for the Ambassadors and Jackson Crowther for the Ambassadors pitched well, taking the 1-1 game into the eighth. Crowther got Marlon Roche to ground into a double play with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth, while Perez cruised to the eighth, picking off two Jackal base runners at first.
In the bottom of the eighth, Craig Conway singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Joe Kerrigan singled to left-center to drive home Conway to give the Jackals the lead.
In the top of the ninth, Ben Grezlovski came in to try to get the save. After he got Brian Macchi to fly out, Dan Singletary singled with one out. Pinch hitter Ryan Bordenick struck out, with Singletary stealing second. Kevin Moore then walked. Singletary stole third, but was stranded there when Cedrick Harris struck out.
Crowther got his fourth win of the season, while Perez got his second tough luck loss. Perez struck out eight in seven and two thirds allowing two runs on seven hits. Grezlovski got his second save. Kerrigan was 3-4 with three singles and an RBI. Davilla was 2-4 with a double and a run scored. The loss drops the Ambassadors to four games under .500, they are now 12-16. The Jackals improved to 20-12, now six games ahead of the Ambassadors in the standings. The two teams finish the series tomorrow night at 7:05.
