Amarillo's Todd and Fort Worth's Davis named Central League players of the week

Durham, N.C. -- Amarillo's Jeremy Todd and Fort Worth's Allen Davis were selected by SportsTicker as the Batter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on July 5 for the week of June 28 - July 4. This marks the second consecutive week and third time overall that a Dilla has been chosen for a weekly award (BOW: Matt Mann, 6/28; POW: Cristy Rosa, 5/31) and the second occasion for the Cats (BOW: Terence Green, 5/31).

Todd had 10 hits in 25 at-bats for a .400 average, including four home runs. He drove in 12 runs, while scoring seven times himself. In addition, Todd had a .800 slugging percentage and reached base 46.4 percent of the time for the Dillas, who are 5-3 in the second half after finishing last in the first part of the season. Todd is in his fifth season of professional baseball and second with the Central Baseball League.

Davis, who has been playing professional baseball since 1998, won both his starts last week to improve his record to 6-3 on the season. In two starts, he tossed 15 innings and gave up only three runs, two earned for an earned run average of 1.20. Davis also struck out 17 and walked four for the Cats, who are in second place in the East with a 4-3 mark.
