Alyssa Thomas and Jonquel Jones Named to All-WNBA Second Team

Uncasville, CT - Connecticut Sun forwards Alyssa Thomas and Jonquel Jones were named to the 2022 All-WNBA Second Team, the league announced today. This marks Thomas' first ever All-WNBA Team appointment in her career. Jones has been named to the All-WNBA Second Team twice (2017, 2019) and also picked up First Team honors in 2021. The two teams, which consists of ten players, were voted on by a national panel of sports journalists and broadcasters.
Thomas returned to the Connecticut Sun this season after missing all but six games of the 2021 campaign recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. The eight-year veteran started in all 36 of the Sun's games this regular season, leading her team in assists (6.1), steals (1.7) and minutes played (32.1). She also finished the regular season second in the league in steals , fifth in rebounding (8.2) and fourth in points in the paint (9.6) per game. Thomas was named a 2022 WNBA All-Star, the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice (5/23, 7/25), and the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month twice (May, July) this season.
Jones entered the 2022 season coming off of the best campaign of her WNBA career, where she was named the 2021 AP and WNBA Most Valuable Player. This season, the 6-6 Bahamian native continued to make strides, leading the Sun in points (14.6), rebounds (8.6) and blocks (1.2) per game. Jones was named a WNBA All-Star for the fourth time in her career, and was voted a starter for the third consecutive time. Jones hit a plethora of career milestones this season, moving into first all-time in blocks (270), third all-time in rebounds (1,633) and sixth all-time in points (2,657) in Connecticut Sun franchise history.
