SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Three members of the San Jose Earthquakes were called up by their respective national teams for the Wednesday, August 12 World Cup qualifying match between El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. local time at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Cornell Glen has been named to the roster for Trinidad and Tobago for the match, while Ramon Sanchez and Arturo Alvarez will suit up for El Salvador. All three players departed the Bay Area on Sunday and will be back before the Quakes next Major League Soccer match on August 22 against the Kansas City Wizards.

Sanchez, who is currently the captain of El Salvador, has made more than 50 appearances for El Salvador's senior national squad, scoring two goals. The San Juan Opico native has appeared in every World Cup qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Sanchez played most recently with El Salvador in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He also appeared in the 2007 Gold Cup and 2003 Gold Cup. In 2002 he won the gold medal with the Salvadoran under-22 team in the Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos, beating Mexico in the final.

Alvarez will be looking to make his debut for El Salvador after playing for the United States at the youth national team level. He played for the U18, U20 and U23 United States national teams, but a recent FIFA ruling allows Alvarez to now play for El Salvador, the country where his parents were born.

Glen most recently played for Trinidad and Tobago on June 6 in a 3-2 qualifying loss to Costa Rica. Glen entered as a sub in the 73rd minute in that match. He missed the team's match against Mexico on June 10 due to a yellow card suspension. For his career, he has appeared in 56 games and scored 22 goals for his country. He played in all three matches for Trinidad and Tobago at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
