Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal - The Montreal Alouettes will honour Guy Lafleur's career, as well as the Alouettes 2002 Grey Cup champion team, on July 14, when the Edmonton Elks will be in town.

Ben Cahoon, Scott Flory, Ozooma Okeke, Sylvain Girard, Stefan Reid and many others will meet fans for pictures and autographs at the entrance three when the doors open, 90 minutes before the start of the game. Even the Grey Cup will be on site to be part of the party!

The 2002 champions will be introduced to the crowd at halftime. The souvenir shop «will participate» in the party by selling several items from that time. Alumi jerseys will be on sale for $50, first come, first served.

It should be noted that the first 2,000 spectators to attend the game will be given a souvenir of the time.

Tribute to Guy Lafleur

Before the game, Martin Lafleur (Guy' son) will be presented to the crowd at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.

For the occasion, the team will unveil a banner of the famous number ten that will be immortalized for the season, behind the Alouettes' bench.

This tribute, scheduled for June 23, had to be postponed to July 14 as the Lafleur family was unable to attend.

A legend in the history of sports in Quebec and a player admired by hockey fans across North America, Guy Lafleur has thrilled generations of Canadiens from coast to coast. Known for his amazing speed and thundering shot, Lafleur quickly rose to the status of superstar for his performances on the ice, while remaining a model of generosity away from the rink. He would play 17 seasons in the LNH, collecting 1,353 points in 1,126 games.

"It will be a special day to pay tribute to Guy Lafleur, who was one of Quebec's greatest athletes", said Mario Cecchini, President of the Montreal Alouettes. "We are also pleased to recognize the work of our legends. These alumni have led the way for many of our players and it is important for us as an organization to celebrate the success of this 2002 champion team."

Fans can reserve their tickets for the 2022 season by visiting www.MontrealAlouettes.com or by calling 514-787-2525.
