Alley, Gothreaux Earn Weekly Honors

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that St. Paul Saints OF Josh Alley and Pensacola Pelicans RHP Jared Gothreaux have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

Alley batted .565 over 23 at-bats. In addition to his 13 hits, the Knoxville, TN resident drew nine walks, giving him a .697 on-base percentage for the week. The Saints leadoff man reached base at least three times in five of six games, drawing a walk in every contest and collecting multiple hits in four of the six games in which he played. On the season, Alley is now hitting .315 with 73 hits, 41 runs scored, 32 RBI, and 16 stolen bases.

Gothreaux made two quality starts for the Pelicans to help the team set the league record for most consecutive victories at 15. The Lake Charles, LA resident struck out 17 hitters and walked just two over his two starts, spanning 16.1 innings. He sported a 2.21 ERA over the two starts, surrendering two earned runs in each appearance. He impressively threw the first 10 innings of the Pelicans' 3-2 11-inning victory over El Paso Monday, tossing 130 pitches in the effort. Gothreaux improved to 6-5 on the season and sports a 4.73 ERA.
